A Few Of My Current Favourite Quotes| Inspiration, Motivation & Determination

Above: be sure to follow me on Twitter & Instagram so you do not miss the updates!
I haven't done one of these posts in such a long so I thought I would do a huge update. If you are following me on Twitter and Instagram you may have noticed that I have been sharing a few of my favourite quotes. Since going full time as a Blogger and YouTuber, reading the odd inspirational and motivational quote really has given me the extra determination. It just reminds you that doing something new isn't always easy; I found that I have been judged, doubted and almost discredited because people still not understand this newly found career (and also the fact that I didn't decide to carry on with my law career). Whatever the thought and comments, I am happy and I will make this work. So let's take a look at the quotes that have been sparking a flame in my stomach:

Do you have any favourite quotes at the moment?

How To Apply A Streak Free Tan

Above: You can check out my latest Sienna-X post by clicking here
IT'S TAN TIME! Now all of you know that I love a good bottle of fake tan and given that Autumn is just around the corner, it is the season to get baking. Many of you may of seen me review many fake tan brands before; Cocoa Brow, Baby B Browne, James Read, Tan Truth (all blog reviews listed below), but my current all time favourite has to be Sienna-X. Most of you will know that I much prefer dark lotions over mousses, sprays and gradual tans, but Sienna-X's products are just to die for. Not only do they develop without any streaks (even the sprays!) but they fade ever so gracefully which means no patchy spots. I uploaded a tanning video many months ago but I thought that I would create an updated version using Sienna-X products. You can check out that video by clicking here but first, let's check out my vital top tips!

Above: Baby B Browne Post Click Here

Above: Tan Truth Post Click Here
Tip 1: Ensure that you have exfoliated in the bath/shower before applying your tan. Make sure your exfoliant doesn't contain oil.
Tip 2: Apply vaseline to your nails and toe nails, no one likes a stained nail do they now!
Tip 3: Invest in a good mitt. Believe it or not that a good mitt is key in order to apply a streak free tan.
Tip 4: Use a tinted tanner- that way you are able to see where you are applying it (hence why I prefer dark lotions).
Tip 5: apply a pre-tanner to all of the difficult areas (i.e. Sienna-X's Radiance Body Balm) especially to your elbow, knees and feet.
Tip 6: Always use a generous amount; not too much or too sparse. Believe it or not but this is one of the most common causes to streaky tans.
Tip 7: Always use the 'excess' on your mitt to cover the elbows, knees and feet to ensure that it does not go patchy.
Tip 8: Make sure you air dry first before popping on loose clothing.
Tip 9: Stay away from water!
Tip 10: Allow good time for the tan to develop.

Above: left without tan, middle during process, right 6 hours after development. Click here to check out my new video
I do go into a lot more detail in my YouTube video so make sure you check that out by clicking here. As you can see in my thumbnail below, my tan is a natural colour and streak free! Be sure to pick up your Sienna-X bottle by the end of this month in order to receive a free Luxury Mitt!

What's your favourite tan? How do you keep yours streak free?
Much Love

My Summer/Holiday Look Book

Whilst Summer may be coming to a close shortly, I thought that I would write up a cheeky look book. This year I really wanted to get a variety of things because I am also heading off to the Caribbean for Christmas. So I thought that I would pretty much get all of my summery things bought before everything goes out of season. This Look Book was filmed in sunny Fuerteventura along with my Fitness Posts, Bikini Look Book and How To Be A Mermaid video (definitely go and check that out). Now I do have a Summer Look Book Video to go up on my YouTube channel but that will not be going up until later on today (so come back around 7pm). You can check out where I got the outfits from here:

My Experience At University| TO GO OR NOT TO GO?

For the last two years I have been desperate to create this piece of content but if I am honest with you, it hasn't felt right up and until now. So I am pretty excited to share this post with you all. Now University... how was it? Er well, it had its up and downs. I personally felt that I went to uni for the wrong reasons, for one I was desperate to leave home and two, I chose a law degree because I knew that the money would be good. But if I had the chance to guide my 18 year old self, I probably would of changed a few decisions. No one should go to uni just because their parents and teachers want them to, it should be a decision made by you only. If you are still unsure whether you want to go, or even undecided on the course you want to take, go on a gap year (if anything it's a very smart decision to do so). But nevertheless I am glad that I went to uni because I know that I probably wouldn't of created my blog and YouTube channel (which is now my full time career), and after all law is a very respectable degree. So the experiences, let me take a moment to dig deep for a minute.

I do explain my experiences into depth in my YouTube video (click here) but if you are wanting a summary, you have come to the right place. So let's start with first year. Arriving to uni is daunting, I mean, you don't know anyone and you're not entirely sure what your room is going to look like. I was one of the first to arrive so I had time to set up my room and get settled and as you can see from the photo below, it looks pretty cosy. I met my neighbour first (who was a guy) and he was rather lovely but then the others started to arrive in dribs and drabs. I remember one girl (who lived opposite me) having a go at her dad for hanging her mirror in the wrong place (full on brat moment) and the others down my corridor, I just found it really hard to 'click' with them. Before joining uni I was very independent so financially I supported myself and had done my own cleaning and washing for a very long time. Because uni is really expensive I unfortunately did not have any financial help from my parents, so I had to get a job with full time hours. I was pretty much the only person who had a job and people just didn't understand the fact that I couldn't attend nights out or afford spontaneous trips out (a lot of people used to get £100's of pounds a month from their parents). This also meant that joining societies was limited and juggling a law degree, full time work and socialising was extremely hard. I do put it down to maturity but I really wished that people just understood my position a little more, but they clearly didn't.

Above: My first year room in halls
Fresher's week was really good, I only did 5 nights out of 7 (because I did something quieter on the last 2 nights) but it's a great way to meet new people. After Freshers I caught 'The Fresher's Flu' and I had a very bad chest infection for a number of weeks (it was that bad that I had to go to hospital one night). I personally don't think you have to buy the Fresher's 'band' or 'pack', you can easily 'pay as you go' but then again, I guess that's down to the university. In my My Experience At University Video I also discuss Fresher's Fair, books, societies and friendships so make sure you go check that out by clicking here. Ooh I have also done a What To Take To University Video which you can also check out by clicking here.

Above: Fresher's week!
Second year, well let me just summarise, it was terrible. Half way/at the end of first year, it's the time to decide who you are going to live with and where you are going to live. So as you can imagine this is pretty tough, for one you hardly know anyone and two, getting a house? Not only is it really expensive but choosing the right one for everyone is a chore. I also found that a lot of people went behind one another's backs, for instance one would say that they were living with one group whilst promising another group. Again a maturity thing, not everyone is up front with one another. I moved in with 3 boys and 2 girls and the chemistry between us 6 seemed to be good. When it came to look at a number of student houses it appeared that every single house had two things in common, they were all mouldy and disgusting. Student housing really isn't nice and the landlords and agents that look after these properties really do not care. We had such a bad experience with our landlord but I'll go into detail in a second but first, what was it like living with my house mates?

Above: My second year house (after spending hours cleaning it)
I personally had no issues with the girls (and one boy), they cleaned, they washed up, they were respectful and I generally enjoyed their company. But the other two boys? Where do I start. When you start living with people you really do learn more about them, and sometimes living under the same roof as them can become unbearable. So let's start from the beginning- I arrived to our house a few weeks earlier than everyone else because I had to start working back at LUSH. As the house was an absolute tip upon arrival, I spent hours cleaning the house and getting everything ready for everyone. As you can see in the picture above the living room and kitchen looks spotless- I was really happy with the space and it felt like a place I could call home. Everyone then moved in and I went back to Wiltshire for 3 days to sort a few things out but when I came back... the place was a tip! Food everywhere, booze on the rug that I had just bought and the place just looked a right mess. I remembering feeling so upset and disrespetced (I swear I had a photo but I can't find it!).

Above: The dirty dishes revenge!
Washing up was another major issue, no one ever did it. I remember us girls getting really annoyed so we stuck notes all over the boys dishes and bedroom doors just to get them to do it. One time I came home from a late shift at LUSH (it must've been 11pm) and the amount of dirty dishes was insane. I got so fed up I washed them all up that night, did I get a thank you? Of course not. Also house parties was another issue. Yeah sure I love a house party... but not when everyone starts bringing drugs into your house! I went back home to Wiltshire for a weekend and when I came back, someone had been in my room! I kid you not I found a drugs packet in my bed and some random girl's necklace on my study table, I literally felt sick. What gives anyone the right to stay in my room without permission? Even worse, do drugs in it. It was just an awful environment.

Above: The amount of washing up I had to do!
Now the land lord and agent, grab a cuppa because you are going to need it. When getting a student house you must be ever so careful as to who you go with. All land lords and agents must have a Gas Safety Certificate and immediately protect your deposit under the Deposit Protection Scheme-something to which our land lord/agent had not done. But first what was it like living in the actual house... well nothing got fixed. One of my house mate's rooms had water gushing through the ceiling and he also had a massive mould patch, we obviously complained about it but it took weeks for the 'handy man' to come out to us. When he inspected the ceiling he told us that it was 'absolutely fine and that his house was like that too'. This was when I lost my rag, water was pouring through the ceiling and he said that it was ok? A week later someone came out to fix the roof but it was a bodged job. When it came to getting our deposit back, it was a challenge in itself (bearing in mind when we arrived at the property it was disgusting). The agents had gone under so it only meant one thing, calling our land lord. I called pretty much every day, left voice messages and texts... nothing. I started to get really suspicious so I did a few of my own investigations.

The Citizen's Advice Bureau were really helpful, we identified that the land lord didn't have an up to date Gas Certificate and our deposits hadn't been protected under the Deposit Protection Scheme- which is really illegal and you can sue up to x4 times the amount back. Fortunately I managed to find his address so I sent him a 'Letter Before Action' which meant that if he did not pay us our deposits back within the two weeks, we would be pursuing a court claim and suing for the quadrupled amount (I also attached all of my evidence in this letter). A week later we each received our deposits back and the letter was read and returned back to me in the post (which I find really strange but anyway...). So the moral of story is, be careful as to who you rent from!

Third year was my favourite year. After being scarred from living in student housing, I decided to move into an Unite apartment which I must add is really expensive (but really worth it). My apartment was lovely and I had a spacious room with an en-suite. If anything needed to be fixed, it got fixed straight away and the onsite staff were really nice. Before you move into any house, please take as many photos as you can and be really thorough with the Inventory. When it came to moving out of my apartment they tried taking 3/4 of my deposit! But as I had taken lots of photos and was thorough with my Inventory, they ended up giving back my full deposit. I also found third year the most enjoyable; I selected the modules that I wanted to do and I also discovered this blog and YouTube channel. Overall I do not regret going to university, it's set me on my path, but I seriously would of changed a few things.

Supporting New Talent| Narrowcliff

Now there’s one thing that I find really refreshing… young new talent. I have been on the blogging scene for almost three years now and I know how incredibly hard it is to make an impression in this industry. Since becoming a full time Blogger and YouTuber, I have spent countless hours re-branding, drumming business, collaborating, filming, editing… and this isn’t the typical 9-5 job (try 14 hour days!). So whenever I have the opportunity to share something new and awesome to my audience, I will. So let’s meet the new and up and coming band Narrowcliff!

Narrowcliff are an exciting new 5 piece indie-rock outfit from Chippenham, Wiltshire. Jarid Clark, Ali Hoff, Mark Henly, Dave Gray and Steve Jones (the band members from Narrowcliffhave made a huge impact on the local music scene and are now heading to London Town. With high profile gigs at venues such as the O2, now is a great time to start following Narrowcliff in their early days. So head over to their Facebook page (click here) and give them a like (I most definitely have!).

Above: Jarid in action
One of the band members, Jarid, is actually a lad that I used to go to school with. Since from a young age he has always been picking up a guitar and singing in assemblies, so it is really nice to see someone from the past continue with something that they love. Jarid actually hit it big at Christmas when one of his tracks (here) was selected to appear on a worldwide Sony album ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’. So watch this space ladies and gents (I can feel something big!).

I will also be attending the gig on the 17th of September at the O2, so be sure to come and say hi if you are able to come!  You can buy a ticket by clicking here.

What new bands are you loving at the moment?
Much Love

Denim Off The Shoulder Dress

So my love for denim and everything pale blue continues. I picked this dress on one spontaneous shopping trip down Oxford Street and I instantly fell in love. This Zara Denim Off The Shoulder Dress is the perfect day dress; it's light, it's summery and just so stylish. Whilst this day number looks fabulous standing alone, I however feel that it looks even better paired with a brown belt. Although I could probably do with a proper waist belt, this New Look brown belt nevertheless does a great job.

Is this a dress you would buy? How would you style it?

Pro's & Con's Of Hair Extensions| Flow Bella

A lot of you have kindly been complimenting me on my hair recently so I wanted to be wholly truthful about it. Unless you have seen my previous hair extensions post (click here) then you wouldn't necessarily know that I have had hair extensions fitted into my hair. I have been wearing these for about a year now (I have just gone onto my third set) and I absolutely love them. I wear hair extensions for a number of reasons: to make my hair feel thicker, to be able to do more hairstyles and to help my natural hair grow longer and stronger. I currently only have 70-75g of hair fitted into my hair (which have mainly been installed around the front of my head) and the average weight that most women get fitted is around 125g. So I really do have a small amount in my hair at the moment. If you want to get more information on extensions, definitely give my Cold Fusion Hair Extensions: Pros & Cons video on YouTube a watch (click here). But anyway, let's get into the post!

For me, the choice to wear extensions was actually a big decision. I stress that if you are thinking about getting extensions yourself, you must do your research. Hair, stylist, method... you name it, you must ensure that you do not end up with a dodgy hairdo! Now the hair from Flowbella is absolutely gorgeous and is a good example of the type of hair that you need to go for. Flowbella only use the finest natural hair which is healthy virgin hair that has not been processed or chemically treated. Hair which has been processed or chemically treated can end up feeling a little synthetic which is obviously not a desirable look (or feel for that matter). Flowbella hair comes in brown or black (occasionally a lighter brown is available) which can be dyed to a lighter colour and styled using hot tools. Additionally the hair has not been coated in silicon or teflon and you can really tell just by touching the hair (each strand is so soft and silky). You can buy these extensions straight or wavy and they are available to order today (so click here). So let's get to the pros and cons:

Positives:

1. Lovely thick hair
2. You can style your hair a lot more (new hair styles alert!)
3. Enhances confidence
4. Your natural hair continues to grow strong and healthy
5. The cold fusion method is extremely safe (and can last between 5-6 months if treated well)
6. You can choose how to wear them, for example, more bonds at the front

Negatives:

1. Expensive!
2. If you do not treat them well, they can end up getting knotty and matted
3. High maintenance- you need to take extra care
4. Sometimes the bonds can show (especially when your hair is up)
5. You can lose some of the bonds throughout the 5-6 months
6. They make you hate your own hair!

Above: click here to check out my new video- Cold Fusion Hair Extensions: Pros & Cons
Would you get hair extensions? Let me know if you have any questions about them in the comments.
Much Love

How To Make The Most Out Of Your Tan| Sienna X Summer Glow Favourites

Since getting back off from holiday almost 3 weeks ago, I am sad to inform you all that my natural tan is now fading *sobs*. But when you have Sienna X products lurking around in your beauty cabinet, maintaining an existing tan has never been so easy. It is no hidden lie that I am a major fan of Sienna X products (you can check out my previous posts by clicking here). A lot of you will know that I much prefer lotions to sprays, and gradual tans over express tanners. But since reviewing Sienna X's Express Tanning Mist a few months ago, my attitudes towards sprays have completely changed. So since receiving new tanning goodies to play with, I am particularly intrigued to see how I get on with the limited edition Express Tan (in a body lotion!).

But first, let's talk about the tanning products themselves. In a good body lotion tanner I look out for two things: the colour of the lotion and the smell. Personally I find applying darker lotions a lot easier- for one you are able to see where you are applying it and two, you can identify if you have rubbed it in well or not. Also smell is extremely important- I personally hate tanners that leave you smelling like a leftover curry. With that all being said, the Deep Self Tan Lotion scores extremely high in my books. As you can see from the picture above, the tan is extremely dark and it also smells like coconuts. The tan itself develops in 8 hours, lasts for 5-7 days and leaves a beautiful medium/dark tan after development (so don't be put off by its darkness). The Express Tanning Mist is also incredible. Also smelling of coconuts, this quick and easy 360 spray with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E will leave a streak free tan in a matter of minutes (but you can leave it on for longer for a darker look). I will be trying out and showing you the results of these two products in a YouTube video next Friday (26th August), so click here to subscribe to my Youtube video so you do not miss out!

Now for something a little new. The Express Tan is a lotion that you leave on for an hour, wash off, and then watch it develop over the next 2-8 hours. The tan itself smells of Aloe Vera which if I am honest with you doesn't smell as nice as the Deep Self Tan Lotion, but it is also meant to last for 5-7 days too. As you can see from the photos above, the photo on the far left are my legs with only the Radiance Body Balm on, the middle shows the colour of my legs after washing the tan off after an hour, and the photo on the far right shows my legs after 4 hours of development. Overall I am pretty chuffed with these results, it is extremely natural and completely streak free!  I will now continue to apply the Radiance Body Balm day and night to ensure that the tan last for the full 5-7 days.

Not only does Sienna X sell amazing tan, but they also stock some other incredible products too. Firstly check out my new bag... cute right? It totally reminds me of a swimming bag that I used to use when I was a kid, but such style still makes the ideal beach and gym bag. These Illuminating Pencil Trio in gold, silver and bronze are also super cool. They all contain a creamy texture which makes them the perfect tools for contouring the face and body. For instance, each colour is superb for highlighting the brow, cheek and collar bones, and not forgetting the body too. I shall be demonstrating how to use these pencils in my YouTube video next Friday (26th August), so click here to subscribe to my Youtube video so you do not miss out!

For each tanning product you buy from Sienna X this month, you get a free Luxury Self Tan Mitt too!  So grab your bottles guys and girls!

Have you tried out any Sienna X products at all before?
Much Love
